Driemo Unveils Highly-Anticipated Sophomore Album The Magician
Malawian Afro-Pop sensation Driemo has officially released his second studio album, The Magician, today, 14 November 2025, marking another major milestone in a career that continues to rise with remarkable speed.
The new album arrives on a wave of excitement, largely driven by its lead single Pensulo, which has been dominating airwaves and rapidly climbing national charts. The track’s music video is also on track to break Driemo’s own record for the fastest Malawian video to reach one million views, potentially hitting the mark in 12 days or less. This would place Pensulo alongside Driemo’s previous record-setter Trailer, which shares the 12-day benchmark with releases from fellow stars Kell Kay and Onesimus.
Anticipation for The Magician has been building for months, especially following the success of Driemo’s 2023 debut album Mzaliwa. Before Mzaliwa, Driemo had already positioned himself as a unique and refreshing voice in Malawi’s music landscape, admired for his silky vocals, heartfelt love songs, motivational anthems, and occasional faith-inspired messages. Combined with his charismatic presence and strong visual appeal, he quickly became a favourite particularly among female fans.
Affectionately known as “the boy from Ntchisi,” Driemo cemented his stardom after Mzaliwa’s release. The album’s sold-out launch concert at COMESA Hall in Blantyre marked a pivotal moment, followed by critical acclaim, strong sales, and record-breaking streaming numbers among a new generation of Malawian musicians. His reach has since expanded beyond Malawi’s borders, reflected in successful international collaborations, concerts and media appearances.
The Magician features 20 tracks with a total runtime of 1 hour and 2 minutes, showcasing Driemo’s artistic growth and musical versatility. The album launch is scheduled for 22 November 2025 at the BICC Auditorium in Lilongwe, where fans are expected to turn out in large numbers to witness another defining moment in the artist’s flourishing career.
