A letter dated June 17 2019 addressed to LWB chief executive officer Engineer Alfonso Chikuni, has revealed that a contractor named Paramount Holdings Limited has committed to repay K175 346 958.96 in three installments, following an alleged breach of contract.

Prior to the development, Paramount Holdings Limited managing director Prakesh Ghedia was on record, saying that a repayment would be made if there be need. “We are a responsible company. If there is need to pay back money, we will do so.”

LWB chief executive officer Engineer Alfonso Chikuni said hailed the resolve as necessary. “We made a stand that we believe is the best for the country.” he said, “We have looked at the options and accepted that it is better that we receive back money spent on the project.”

Paramount Holdings Limited was found short of machinery, as one of its machines was faulted to not be up to standard with World Health Organisation (WHO). However, the contractor took a lot of time to rectify the matter. The contract had a one-year warranty period under which Paramount was supposed to be servicing the equipment, but the machine had been idle for over a year.
